Meet Al Miniero…
Also known as “Uncle Al” and “Dogfather” by furry clients and their owners, Al is a former manager on Wall Street. His history and story to current day is rich with meaning, serendipity, industry and passion for animals and birds.
Although he enjoyed his 23 years on Wall Street, Al’s love and desire to work with animals remained strong. Having an Italian Greyhound as a pet and training her for competitions led to a very successful career as a professional dog handler for others. His experience and expertise in professional grooming, training and handling span a 20 year period in which he was much sought out.
Among his many achievements, Al bred 53 champions, many of whom were group and breed winners at well-known dog shows, including the prestigious Westminster. His expert knowledge of Italian Greyhounds and Whippets led to breeding them and ensuring the puppies went to good homes.
When asked about when he started grooming dogs, he states “Since I was a kid…my neighbors asked me to give their dogs haircuts, and I loved it.” Since those early years, Al owned dog grooming salons in New York, Hilton Head, Decatur and Avondale Estates, and has been an instructor in pet grooming. DogFeathers specializes in breed standard haircuts.
Associations Al Miniero belongs to:

Meet Mark Steverson…
Mark also comes from a long history of family dogs and birds. His current furry ‘child’ is Oliver, a maltese who he rescued a few years ago. Oliver is now 16 years old, happy and loves to be around people. Mark has a soft spot for dogs that have special needs, and if you meet him, you will understand why.
Mark had a very successful career as a buyer, but like Al, his love of dogs led him to professional dog grooming. Juggling his full-time job as a buyer, Mark embarked upon professional dog grooming classes, and now has many years of experience under his belt.
DogFeathers is Mark’s first animal and bird related business, and he “loves every minute of it.”
